The importance of a healthy lifestyle

The paradox of the Western diet is to find on the one hand with excess calories (in particular sugar) and on the other with reduced intake of vitamins, minerals and vegetable fibers, or with imbalances in the type of fat.

Excluding specific pathologies or drug interactions, a healthy individual could still have deficiencies due to a non-optimal intestinal absorption in which an alteration of the resident microflora can play an important role.

The concept of diet is linked to that of a healthy and balanced diet for the prevention of diseases and not only in terms of weight loss for aesthetic purposes. The largest part of the body, which represents the interface with which we present ourselves to the outside world, is the skin with its skin appendages (nails, hair and hair). Having healthy skin and hair is a sign of beauty and well-being, while the opposite can mean deficiencies in vitamins, essential fatty acids, anemia, oxidative stress, etc. A good internal antioxidant barrier and an optimal composition of the lipids that make up the cell membranes are therefore essential for healthy skin protected from photo-aging.

Food tips for a healthy and balanced diet

From a food point of view, the way forward is:

A diet rich in colors (antioxidants);

· Of vegetables and fruit (fiber, vitamins, minerals);

· Of whole grains (complex carbohydrates, vegetable proteins, micronutrients and fibers);

· Extra virgin olive oil and dried fruit (healthy and polyunsaturated fats);

· Blue fish (proteins and Omega 3);

· Eggs and selected meats (quality proteins and low in saturated fats);

Good hydration.
